El so i la seva codificació en el manuscrit El Escorial b-I-2 de les Cantigas de Santa Maria

La col·lecció de cantigas dedicades a la Verge, impulsada i compilada sota el guiatge d’Alfons X el Savi (1221-1284), és, com tota la producció poeticomusical medieval, un repertori creat amb l’auxili d’estratègies de composició oral. A partir d’aquesta premissa, el meu propòsit és determinar la relació entre els poemes alfonsins i la seva realitat escrita a partir de l’anàlisi del sistema de composició que inclou la interacció entre text i melodia. Finalment és la melodia, com a element encarregat de la transmissió i arquitectònicament responsable de l’estructuració mètrica, la font originària del fluir del ritme, conseqüència directa de la disposició dels graus modals, que han d’encaixar, sense correspondre-hi necessàriament, amb l’estructura prosòdica del text.
The collection of the Cantigas devoted to the Virgin Mary, which was promoted and compiled under the guidance of Alfonso X the Learned (1221-1284), is a repertoire created with the help of oral composition strategies like all medieval poetic-musical productions. On the basis of this premise, this study seeks to determine the relationship between Al­fonso’s poems and their written reality by means of an analysis of the composition system that includes the interaction between text and melody. In the end, it is the melody, as the element which is in charge of transmission and which is architecturally responsible for the metric structuring (the original source of the rhythm’s flow and a direct consequence  of the arrangement of the modal degrees), which must fit – without necessarily corre­sponding – with the prosodic structure of the text.
