En cuanto a las fuentes históricas, se han usado las leyes, los expedientes judiciales y eclesiásticos de los archivoslimeños, las descripciones de los viajeros de la época, las opiniones de los intelectuales ilustrados, principalmente.
This article explores how Africans and Afro-descendants defended themselves in court from their position as women, enslaved and black.Regarding the historical sources, the laws, the judicial and ecclesiastical records of the Lima archives, the descriptions of the travelers of the time, the opinions of the enlightened intellectuals, mainly have been used.
