Abstract

As a part of my academic journey, this thesis is dedicated to the exploration of the Minecraft Java Edition multiplayer domain and its evolving customization capabilities, which rely on its community. The focus is set on exploring the potential of multiplayer servers as a versatile tool for creating engaging and accessible educational applications. The goal of this study is to identify the modifications made to the main game by educational content within Minecraft Education Collection. In fact, these adaptations will be identified within Java Edition servers. Additionally, a practical showcase will accompany this study to showcase the reliability of this approach. The foundation of this study involves identifying the adaptations made to the original game by instructional experiences introduced in Minecraft Education Collection. Bedrock edition customization capabilities, which is offered by Microsoft. In addition, a practical showcase will accompany this study to showcase the reliability of this approach. The exploration aims to spread awareness to educators and developers of the potential use of servers as learning environments. Servers provide dynamic, accessible environments in which young Minecraft players can get immersed, even outside formal educational contexts. In order to effectively create accessible environments and reach a broader audience, this dissertation seeks to mention a possible solution to the user base bifurcation between Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. The proposed solution would allow Java Edition customization to be accessed from the Bedrock Edition of the game. OBJECTIVES: The general objectives of this study involve utilizing servers as a solution to the formulated problem. Additionally, the study seeks to address two pivotal inquiries: the effectiveness of Minecraft servers in creating rich educational experiences and the potential of the multiplayer domain as an educational platform.
