Abstract

This research was conducted due to the background that the performance of teachers in educational institutions is currently declining. Therefore it becomes a task for madrasa heads to improve the performance of teachers in educational institutions. In this study, it will be seen how the principal's strategy in improving teacher performance at MIS Al Washliyah 48 Binjai. This study uses qualitative research where researchers will describe how the principal's strategy in improving teacher performance at MIS Al Washliyah 48 Binjai. The participants in this study were the head of the madrasa and the teachers who were interviewed regarding the leadership strategy of the head of the madrasa in improving teacher performance. The method of collecting data is using data collection in the form of interviews, documentation, and observation. Research results 1). The strategy carried out by the head of the madrasa, eg Al Washliyah 48 Binjai, is to include teachers in the KKG and MGMP training programs. In addition, the principal's strategy in improving teacher performance is to involve teachers in webinar programs related to improving teacher performance so that with this all teachers at MIS Al Washliyah 48 Binjai can improve their respective performance. 2) The performance of teachers at MIS Al Washliyah 48 Binjai has been going well because at MIS Al Washliyah 48 Binjai all teachers always collect all reports in a timely manner so that with this MIS Al Washliyah 48 Binjai becomes a level 2 school which is the fastest school in submit a report at the Ministry of Religion of the city of Binjai. 3) Obstacles that occur to the principal's strategy in teacher performance are due to a lack of technological knowledge for teachers who have been teaching here for a long time and teachers who have just entered teaching have high technological knowledge but very low psychomotor knowledge, this becomes an obstacle for madrasah heads in improving teacher performance while the supporting fa
