Forest and shipbuilding in historiography: state of the art and some research questions

My presentation intends to raise some research problems that I still consider as open line of research in the study of the relationship between human societies and forests resources. I focus on the historical relationship between shipbuilding and timber trade and supply during the early modern centuries. Although I refer here to the Spanish case, I am going to highlight some issues that must be considered from a comparative perspective between different regions around the world, particularly since the fifteenth century, when the process of creating a global timber market began.
