Abstract

The auxiliary lifting device is additional device – attachment to the regular lifting device for lifting unit loads. This particular auxiliary lifting device has extraordinary design. It is a device with a relatively large lifting capacity, mechanism for span adjusting and mechanism for rotation around vertical axis ± 360°. The final design solution has passed through several modifications. The first design solution had capability of rotating around vertical axis but the span could be adjusted manually by placing hooking elements into predefined places along the span of the auxiliary lifting device. The second design solution represented a mechanized version of the first design solution in which the span adjustment was performed mechanized using an electric motor. Further iterations in the design sustained minor changes and adjustments. The final design solution was produced and tested in operation.
