Gila Monster : Go Outside

Publication Year :
2021

Abstract

He did the mash, he did the (Gila) monster mash! Although they are called monsters, these rare lizards actually aren't that scary. They are one of only two venomous lizards in North America, and only spend about 3% to 5% of their time above ground. They can also eat up to 33 percent of their body weight in a single meal, causing them to eat only three or four times a year. Gila monsters are pretty slow-moving and don’t pose a significant threat to humans, but always remember to keep your distance. They are wild animals and can bite when threatened or harassed.
