Abstract

The performance of modified polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) membrane in oilfield wastewater treatment was investigated. Oil content, suspended solids (SS), turbidity and total organic carbon (TOC) of the stable effluents were analyzed. Moreover, the fouling mitigation was quantitatively evaluated from the view of filtration resistances. In addition, fouled membranes were washed by the chemical method and it was found that the flux recovery ratio of the modified membrane was higher. The experimental results indicated that the modification improved PVDF membrane flux and anti-fouling ability without sacrificing the performances in oilfield wastewater treatment. © 2011 IEEE.
