Salvemos la distancia: investigación sobre como el diseño puede ser una herramienta de inclusión

El presente trabajo de investigación, consiste en la descripción y análisis de la situación actual del colectivo de discapacitados visuales, respecto al resto de la sociedad en el ámbito de la cultura. Tomando como espacio representativo cultural los museos, el estudio se centra en analizar la adaptación y accesibilidad de la oferta cultural para el colectivo y cómo, un mayor acceso a la cultura, mejora la calidad de vida de estas personas a través del ocio, a la vez que promueve la inclusión social, convirtiéndose en espacios facilitadores de encuentro y mejora de las relaciones sociales de éstos, con las personas sin discapacidad. Dicho análisis pretende abrir un diálogo poco frecuente, al menos entre las personas sin discapacidad visual, sobre la distancia que existe entre este colectivo y el resto de la sociedad y de cómo, a partir del diseño del propio espacio y de los contenidos, debidamente adaptados, se puede promover la inclusión social. Empleando técnicas de investigación de las ciencias sociales, se obtienen los testimonios de una muestra de personas del colectivo objeto de estudio, que permiten la posterior caracterización de la realidad de estas personas, en el ámbito concreto de la cultura y la relevancia otorgada en términos de calidad de vida, que supondría que estos espacios sean más inclusivos. Estas mismas técnicas han sido utilizadas para conocer la opinión de personas sin discapacidad y así poder describir el grado de interacción social entre ambos colectivos, con el objetivo último de validar la distancia social presupuesta y la validez de la hipótesis de partida.
This research work consists of the description and analysis of the current situation of the visually impaired, with respect to the rest of society in the field of culture. Taking museums as a representative cultural space, the study focuses on analyzing the adaptation and accessibility of the cultural offer for the group and how greater access to culture improves the quality of life of these people through leisure, while promoting social inclusion, becoming spaces that facilitate meetings and improve their social relations with people without disabilities. This analysis aims to open a rare dialogue, at least among people without visual impairment, about the distance that exists between this group and the rest of society and how, from the design of the space itself and the contents, properly adapted, social inclusion can be promoted. Using social science research techniques, the testimonies of a sample of people from the group under study are obtained, which allow the subsequent characterization of the reality of these people, in the specific field of culture and the relevance given in terms of quality of life, which would mean that these spaces are more inclusive. These same techniques have been used to know the opinion of people without disabilities and thus be able to describe the degree of social interaction between both groups, with the ultimate goal of validating the assumed social distance and the validity of the starting hypothesis.
