La mujer-águila y la imagen de la reina en los virreinatos americanos

This article deals with the relevance of the eagle as an emblematic and symbolic animal that appears in sermons and hieroglyphics of funeral rites of the Spanish Monarchy queens, especially in the Latin American Viceroyalties. The main aim of the article is to show the significance of the links between the image of the Biblical strong woman, particularly the Apocalypses eagle-woman, with the Spanish queens, and their relation to the apocalyptic Marian cults in the Latin American viceroyalties.
Este texto aborda la importancia del águila como animal emblemático en los jeroglíficos y sermones de las exequias fúnebres de las reinas en la monarquía hispánica, con especial incidencia en los virreinatos americanos. Con ello se pretende poner de relevancia la vinculación de la imagen de la mujer fuerte bíblica y en especial de la mujer-águila del Apocalipsis con las reinas españolas, y asimismo apuntar su ulterior vinculación con la importancia de las advocaciones marianas apocalípticas en los virreinatos americanos.
