Antiguo Cuartel de la Guardia Civil en Cieza

Continuing with our intention of bringing to memory and remembrance a series of architectural elements that at one time meant a display of monumentality or at least of less use in the urban development of Cieza, today’s article refers to the old barracks of the Civil Guard. Urban structure so linked to the appearance of the peoples of Spain. Municipal property and with a project –which we take for the first time– of the distinguished architect D. Justo Millán (this building does not appear in the catalog of his works) was not an obstacle for the presumed watchmen of his property, and conservation, the same city council, get rid of it, as it was done with the Little Poster, the Jail... and why continue.
Siguiendo con nuestra intención de traer a la memoria y al recuerdo una serie de elementos arquitectónicos que en algún momento significaron una muestra de monumentalidad o cuanto de menos utilidad en el desarrollo urbano de Cieza, el artículo de hoy, viene referido al antiguo cuartel de la Guardia Civil. Estructura urbana tan ligada a la fisonomía de los pueblos de España. De propiedad municipal y con un proyecto-que damos por primicia- del insigne arquitecto D. Justo Millán (en el catálogo de sus obras no aparece este edificio) no fue óbice para que los presuntos veladores de su propiedad, y conservación, el mismo ayuntamiento, se deshiciera de él, como se hizo con el Pósito, la Cárcel…y para que seguir.
