Undervisning om friktion utifrån ett lekpedagogiskt arbetssätt : En studie om naturvetenskaplig undervisning i förskolan

Studiens syfte är att bidra med kunskap om hur barn i förskolan uppfattar fysikaliska fenomenet friktion genom att utgå från ett lekpedagogiskt arbetssätt som tar utgångspunkt i barnboken ”Mamma Mu åker rutschkana”. Undervisningssituationens utformning kombinerade högläsning, dramatisering och naturvetenskap på ett lekfullt sätt. I studien observerades totalt sex barn från två olika förskolor med barn i åldrarna tre till fem år. Observationen genomfördes vid förskolornas rutschkana där en av studenterna gestaltade karaktären Mamma Mu och barnen fick möjlighet att undersöka fenomenet friktion med hjälp utav olika material. Observationerna dokumenterades genom ljud- och videoinspelning, där datamaterialet sedan analyserades tematiskt. I resultatet framkom det att barnen visade progression i sin förståelse för fenomenet under undervisningssituationen, de utvecklade sina förklaringar och uppfattningar om fenomenet i relation till olika material mot en rutschkanas underlag. Utifrån barnens verbala och kroppsliga uttryck visar resultatet att barnet fick förståelse för fenomenet. Exempelvis förklarade några barn att det var mer än materialets textur som påverkade friktionen och hastigheten i rutschkanan vilket de beskrev hade att göra med tyngd. Resultatet i studien tyder även på att det lekpedagogiska arbetssättet var till fördel för att skapa intresse, nyfikenhet och förståelse för fenomenet friktion hos barnen. Barnen intresserade sig för karaktären, drog paralleller mellan bokens handling och undervisningssituationen samt utvecklade sina förklaringar om fenomenet genom stöttning från studenten som gestaltade karaktären Mamma Mu.
The study aims to contribute with knowledge about how children inpreschool understand the phenomenon friction. The study uses a playpedagogical approach based on the children's book "Mamma Moo goes downa slide". The design of the teaching situation combined storytelling,dramatization and science in a playful way. Six children from two differentpreschools were observed, the children were three to five years old. Theobservation was carried out at the preschools` slides, where one of thestudents dramatized the character Mamma Moo. The children had theopportunity to investigate the concept of friction using different materials inthe slide. The observations were documented trough audio and videorecording. The data material was analyzed thematically. In the result, thechildren showed progression in their understanding of the phenomenonduring the teaching situation. They developed their explanations of thephenomenon in relation to different materials against the slide. Based on thechildren's verbal expression and body language the result shows that thechildren gained an understanding of the phenomenon friction. For example,some children explained that it’s more than the texture of the material thataffects the friction and speed in the slide, which they described had to dowith weight. The results of the study also suggest that the play pedagogicalapproach was beneficial in creating interest, curiosity and understanding ofthe phenomenon friction. The children were interested in the character, drewparallels between the book's plot and the teaching situation, and developedtheir explanations through the support of the student who dramatized thecharacter Mamma Moo.
