Propuesta de identidad digital para historial clínico unificado utilizando tecnología blockchain

Blockchain is a new technology that constitutes a security solution in any field. Digital Identity is one of these possible solutions, which allows to provide sufficient confidence and security in its actors since the information is not centralized and not entirely in any of its actors. On the contrary, the Blockchain allows it to be distributed throughout its conformation, which makes any attempt of violation difficult. Within digital health it can take advantage of this trust and can be used to manage digital identity as a form of access to the information stored in the Electronic Health Record of patients. Its indisputable characteristics of confidentiality, data integrity, immutability, traceability and privacy allow it to be categorized as an innovative solution for this field. In the context of the digitalization of the Unified Health Record of the Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador, no standardized way of managing the EHR has been identified, which implies the impossibility of managing a unique Identity for the patient who wishes to access his/her information. Finally, the progress in the defense of digital information has led to the Personal Data Protection Law, which promotes the need for patients to be owners of their digital information. As a response to these problems, this work presents the use of Blockchain for the patient’s Digital Identity, managing to maintain control over access to their HC, and proposing a complete security scheme for such access. Thus, it is contributed so that the patient is the one who authorizes the access in a more reliable way and allowing to approach the feeling of ownership over the information that may be in the different Health Providers. The work focuses on well-managed authorization by Digital Identity, but not on the integration and interoperability of the EHR
