Abstract

As a consequence of the increase in aeronautical activity, it has become necessary to search for new solutions in order to maintain the guaranteed standards of requirements, taking into account the maximum performance of the necessary resources. Throughout this project, two methods of surface equipment management are been designed, modeling their trajectories, and achieving through the optimization provided by linear programming the minimal the cost of this management. In order to create each method, two companies have been considered as a reference, airline A and B, with two very different ways of carrying out their ground equipment management. Based on these two airlines, method A for airline A and method B for airline B have been created. Once the methods have been created, both methods will be applied to two airports, Barcelona Josep-Tarradellas airport and Gran Canaria Gando airport. The main objective of applying both methods to two very different airports is to analyse the distance component, since it is the distance component that most affects the planning of ground resources. A typical day will be given for both airports of a real company, and the performance of each method will be analysed at each airport, Barcelona and Gran Canaria. Finally, the differences between the two methods will be review in terms of the total cost of hours worked by the staff necessary throughout the day to cover the operational needs, as well as the differences in the distance.
