Abstract

In this work, carbon steel (CS) covered with bronze coating was treated by silane coupling agents with an aim to improve surface adhesion between metal and rubber blend. As we know the silane coupling agents offer the ability to form a durable bond between organic and inorganic materials. Through hydrolysis reaction R- silyl group can form a chemical bond with the inorganic surface. Two different chemical properties of materials provide high adhesive strength or improvement of the adhesion strength 1,2. The surfaces characteristics were analyzed by XPS, FTIR, and Contact angle measurements. Surface morphology of bronze surface treated by APS was investigated by AFM.<br />In this work, carbon steel (CS) covered with bronze coating was treated by silane coupling agents with an aim to improve surface adhesion between metal and rubber blend.
