Abstract

It is known that the heat-resistance of perfluoroelastomers is excellent in comparison with other elastomers. Since the industrial demands are harder and harder year after year, some materials with higher heat-resistance are required. It is important for the additional improvement to know the mechanism of thermal degradation. We have examined gases evolved from perfluoroelastomers at high heating temperature under controlled-gas atmosphere by infrared spectroscopy and mass spectrometry.<br />It is known that the heat-resistance of perfluoroelastomers is excellent in comparison with other elastomers.
