Abstract
- Part 1 of the book discusses the geology of the Gemericum, its metallogenic evolution during the Variscan and Alpine epochs, and the main types of mineralisation. Part 2 describes the ore deposits in detail. Magmatogenic mineralisation includes hydrothermal-greisen and albitic Sn-W and REE deposits and a plutonic-hydrothermal stockwork Mo-W deposit. Metamorphic-hydrothermal veins include 18 areas of siderite-sulphide mineralisation, some of them important orefields for Fe, Cu and other base metals, and several antimonite vein systems. Stratiform deposits include sedex deposits of base metals, Fe oxides, Mn, U and Cu and hydrothermal-metasomatic deposits of siderite, ankerite, magnesite and talc. There are bauxite and red clay residual deposits, weathered crusts on ultrabasic complexes and Sn and Au placers. Part 3 is on non-metallic deposits: magmatic feldspar and building materials, hydrothermal quartz, barite, specularite and asbestos, and sedimentary gypsum, anhydrite, carbonates and other rocks. Part 4 is on precious and decorative stones. There are 67 pages of references, a geographical index and a deposits index.<br />Part 1 of the book discusses the geology of the Gemericum, its metallogenic evolution during the Variscan and Alpine epochs, and the main types of mineralisation.
