Abstract
- The overall objective of work package 6 of the EU's FAME (Flexible And Mobile Economic Processing) project is to evaluate the sustainability of processing complex and low-grade ores of skarn, pegmatite and greisen ores. As part of the environmental and socio-political impact assessment (ESIA) of a mining or mineral processing operation, environmental management during the phases of construction, operation and mine closure has to be defined in terms of different management plans that address environmental issues and community concerns. Examples are given of best practice with reference to energy and related climate effects, community relations, land and water usage, biodiversity, cultural and nature heritage, and mine closure.<br />The overall objective of work package 6 of the EU's FAME (Flexible And Mobile Economic Processing) project is to evaluate the sustainability of processing complex and low-grade ores of skarn, pegmatite and greisen ores.
