Abstract
- Reliable estimates of the strength, deformability and stress state of rock masses are required for mining and civil engineering projects, for monitoring purposes and for the numerical modelling of the large-scale behaviour of a rock mass. Methods are reviewed for the in situ three-dimensional measurement of rock mass stress state, including the CSIRO and Borre probe techniques.<br />Reliable estimates of the strength, deformability and stress state of rock masses are required for mining and civil engineering projects, for monitoring purposes and for the numerical modelling of the large-scale behaviour of a rock mass.
