Abstract

A device to separate the active cathode material of silver-zinc batteries from a wire gauze base has been designed incorporating an activator which consists of two horizontal drums mounted in parallel one above the other, allowing vertical rotation. The cylindrical surface of one drum has protrusions in the shape of tenons with rounded studs, while the other drum has a flexible liner. When the gauze is fed between the drums, up to 99.9% of the paste mass is separated from the device without the wire gauze being destroyed and 99.9 wt% pure silver is subsequently obtained.<br />A device to separate the active cathode material of silver-zinc batteries from a wire gauze base has been designed incorporating an activator which consists of two horizontal drums mounted in parallel one above the other, allowing vertical rotation.
