Abstract

The installation is described of a dual-stage, forced-air incinerator at the Hackett River Ag-Zn project in Nunavut, Canada, to process waste material that cannot be removed or recycled, including general waste such as food scraps and packaging, drilling waste such as greases and lubricants, used hydrocarbons, and wood and paper waste. The project is currently in the advanced exploration stage, with 25-30 people on site. The incinerator components were flown in and assembled at the site and, following a year of operation, there has been a noticeable improvement in air quality and the volume of waste ash to be shipped out has been significantly reduced.<br />The installation is described of a dual-stage, forced-air incinerator at the Hackett River Ag-Zn project in Nunavut, Canada, to process waste material that cannot be removed or recycled, including general waste such as food scraps and packaging, drilling waste such as greases and lubricants, used hydrocarbons, and wood and paper waste.
