Abstract

Precious metals mineralogy is very varied and affects the process of extraction to the point that often different recoveries are experienced from ores of similar grades. Because of the size factor involved, techniques for the correct determination of their occurrence in ores, involves the use of instruments such as high magnification optical microscopes, scanning electron microscopes and electronmicroprobes, capable of magnifying and chemically analysing fine particles. Appropriate scientific expertise and methods are also essential when using the mineralogy of an ore for improved recoveries.<br />Precious metals mineralogy is very varied and affects the process of extraction to the point that often different recoveries are experienced from ores of similar grades.
