Study and application of waste-free process for the treatment of the effluent from activated carbon production.
-
Abstract
- A filtration method has been developed which uses a polymer material in the filtration element, by which 95% of activated carbon in the effluent can be recovered along with 85% of the water in a purified state. Bench-scale experiments showed that the method is simple and practical with the turbidity of the purified water exceeding the quality needed for recycling. The method has been used at the Guanghua lumber factory in Beijing, and has been proved practical and economically advantageous, offering the factory a waste-free process.<br />A filtration method has been developed which uses a polymer material in the filtration element, by which 95% of activated carbon in the effluent can be recovered along with 85% of the water in a purified state.
