Abstract

The plant at the new mine in Chile includes areas for crushing, agglomeration, leaching in permanent heaps, solvent extraction and electrowinning. Capacity of the crushing circuit and heap leaching is 15 000 t/d averaging 0.82% copper, while a further 2 000 000 t/a grading 0.45% Cu will be processed by dump leaching. The plant layout has been planned to achieve the most compact arrangement possible between plant and mine. Different sections are designed to minimise energy consumption in materials transport and to avoid excavation and dust pollution in critical areas. In handling solutions full advantage has been taken of gravity. All dust sources are to be covered and proper dust suppression measures have been included. Acid storage will be located far from both operations and plant traffic, to facilitate the movement of trucks with acid. Auxiliary buildings will be located to the south-east of the leaching area.<br />The plant at the new mine in Chile includes areas for crushing, agglomeration, leaching in permanent heaps, solvent extraction and electrowinning.
