Abstract

The classification and concentration performance of a hydrocyclone has been investigated for an artificial two-component mixture of quartz and ferrosilicon. Effective control of the three main variables, cone-angle, ratio of nozzle diameters and solid concentration, resulted in a 96% pure ferrosilicon product in the underflow. Finely ground lead-zinc and tantalum-tin ores were also investigated. A flat bottom hydrocyclone was most efficient in the preconcentration of ore slurries.<br />The classification and concentration performance of a hydrocyclone has been investigated for an artificial two-component mixture of quartz and ferrosilicon.
