Abstract

The general geology of the central Florida phosphate deposits is described and the unit operations of a typical plant processing low-carbonate pebble phosphate matrix are considered, including new developments in transport of slurried matrix, washer operation, sizing, flotation, water use and recycling, and waste disposal and land reclamation. Phosphate pebbles and a flotation concentrate are produced. A pilot plant process for treating the high-carbonate ores of southern Florida is also described.<br />The general geology of the central Florida phosphate deposits is described and the unit operations of a typical plant processing low-carbonate pebble phosphate matrix are considered, including new developments in transport of slurried matrix, washer operation, sizing, flotation, water use and recycling, and waste disposal and land reclamation.
