«Però non si può più rifare con le parole». Osservazioni su lingua, dialetto ed esperienza in Libera nos a malo di Luigi Meneghello

This paper aims at making a point about Luigi Meneghello’s debut book, Libera nos a malo (1963) – a formidable mix of autobiography, essay and metalinguistic reflection –, and especially on the relationship between Italian language, Maladense (his native dialect, compared with other dialects of Venetan) and experience. More specifically, the main issue to be investigated will be the inconsistencies concerning the interaction and the distinctions between major language and local dialect (and between literacy and orality) – as conveyed by author’s annotations
