Abstract

A grid-forming power converter based on the synchronous power controller (SPC) is a solution that through the flexible and adaptive emulation of the main functional blocks of a synchronous machine, allows to take advantage of its benefits while avoiding or minimizing its weaknesses. In this paper a small signal stability analysis of a grid-forming power converter based on SPC is performed. The analysis includes obtaining a representation of the system’s state space, calculating its eigenvalues and analysing the sensitivity to variation of some relevant parameters.
