Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to give an overview of selected issues concerning the experimental investigations and theoretical/computational analysis, aimed at mechanistic multidimensional modeling of flow and heat transfer in SCWR. In particular, the following issues are discussed: the development of a new data base for fluid flow and heat transfer in water at supercritical pressures, development of fall three-dimensional computational modeling framework for CFD simulations of SCWR thermal-hydraulics using the NPHASE code, and an analysis on the effect of temperature-dependent properties of water near the pseudo-critical point on local multidimensional phenomena of fluid mechanics and heat transfer in SCWR coolant channels.<br />QC 20141113
