Abstract
- voice
Collected by: James Ward Lee and Ralph E. Roberts for Mary Celestia Parler Transcribed by James Ward Lee and Ralph E . Roberts Sung by: James Maguire Fayetteville, Arkansas August 1, 1958 Reel 242 Item 11 My M other's Dear Old Bible There's a precious dear old Bible, It is my Mother's dear old Bible, Dear old precious worn out Bible, That she read to me so many years ago; With its pages torn and wrinkled, Where the tear drops will trinkle, As she read it while I walk the streets of glow. Mother left it as a token, To her love it's never been broken, As she read it while I walk the streets of glow. In my hand I hold the treasure, Oh how bright beyond the measure, For it brings to me sweet memories of old; When all the nights are dark and dreary, Mother's Bible then will cheer me, As she read it round the fireside burnin' low. Is my Mother's dear old Bible, Dear old precious worn out Bible, That she read to me so many years ago; Mother left it as a token, To her love its' never been broken. As she read it while I walked the streets of glow.
Funding for digitization provided by the Arkansas Humanities Council and the Happy Hollow Foundation.
