Abstract

Orius laevigatus in the Netherlands (Heteroptera: Anthocoridae) Orius laevigatus was captured in 2005 at 21 localities on nettle in banks and borders, all but one in greenhouse areas. The possible cause of its occurrence in the Netherlands is supposed to be either a natural northern shift of its range caused by the changing climate, or the escape of specimens from greenhouses, where the species is used frequently for biological control of western flower thrips.
