Abstract
- This thesis studies the exchange of surface water and groundwater in the river Cumbe through flow measurement in a stretch without inflow and outflow. The methods for calculating flow into nine sections of measurements determined along the river course are made in three ways, through measuring instruments of flow: molinete, Flowtracker and level sensor. The Molinete obtains the flow by applying formulas in terms of the average flow velocity and cross-section. The Flowtracker has a system that directly calculates the flow. The level sensor in the control section, obtains the flow by applying formulas or series analysis of water level data. Flow values are compared in spatial and temporal way. According to the variability between flows, the river presents the two conditions of exchange, wins flow in some sections and loses it in others. The studied stretch presents two values of a roughness coefficient, the first of 0.021 that corresponds to the first seven sections and 0.033 for the last two, due to the differences presented in the composition and presence of vegetation.
