Abstract

Two technologies that have made great strides in recent years are semantic technologies and augmented reality. From semantic technologies is possible emphasize that they allow to model and store the information maintaining a high level of expressivity, improving the processes related to the search of information. On the other hand, augmented reality is a technology that is characterized for helping to improve the user experience by performing activities in a given physical context since they allow to combine the physical environment with virtual elements generated by computer in real time. The hypothesis in this work is that semantic search systems are an ideal complement to augmented reality applications where the objective is to search and visualize the location of elements such as people, places, events, etc. In order to support this hypothesis, this paper describes the design and implementation of a system that makes use of the two mentioned technologies, whose objective is the search of places, activities or people in the context of the University of Cuenca.
