25% of IIT aspirants this year from southern states

One in four IIT aspirants who registered for the JEE (Advanced) this year was from the southern states followed by the IIT-Delhi zone. Students from most western states, comprising the third highest pool of candidates, registered under the IIT-Bombay zone. Data from IITs shows that the highest number of candidates who qualified in JEE (Main) to take the next level exam were from down south. Academicians claim many of these are Teluguspeaking students.
