Abstract

Experimental results concerning light charged particle (proton, deuteron, triton and alpha-particle) production in fast neutron induced reactions on bismuth are reported for several incident neutron energies between 25 and 65 MeV. Energy spectra (double-differential cross sections) were measured at 9 laboratory angles between 20degrees and 160degrees and extrapolated and interpolated to other 10 angles. The experimental set-up and procedures for data reduction including corrections and normalisation are shortly presented and discussed. Resulting energy-differential and total cross sections are reported as well. Experimental cross sections are compared to similar available data from neutron and proton induced reactions. Theoretical calculations are based on GNASH and TALYS nuclear reaction codes which integrate the optical model, direct, pre-equilibrium, fission and statistical nuclear reaction models in one calculation scheme.
