Abstract

The object of the present paper is to solve the two-dimensiona problem of Tidal Waves in an elliptic basin which shelves gradually from the centre to the edge, the depth being the same at all points of an ellipse which is similar and similarly situated to the bounding ellipse. The case of a circular basin of variable depth where the depth at all points of a circle concentric with the bounding circle is the same, has already been solved by Lamb.*
