Vladimir Korepin completed his undergraduate study at Saint Petersburg State University. He was subsequently employed by the Mathematical Institute of Academy of Sciences of Russia. He completed his graduate and postdoctoral studies at this Institute in 1977 and he continued to work there till 1989. His scientific adviser was Ludwig Faddeev. In 1985, he received a doctor of sciences degree in mathematical physics from the Council of Ministers of the Russian Federation.
