Abstract

* This chapter provides tools for estimating the bare equipment costs of pipelines, booster pumps, wells, platforms and monitoring to enable users to complete their own CO2 transport and storage studies.* The tools are based on specific operating conditions and engineering assumptions. Variations in factors such as material costs, topography and geological properties may lead to different costs.* The integrated optimisation of capture, transport route, operating conditions and injection strategies may lead to cost reductions.* Based on the case studies in Chapter 20, the total plant cost (excluding owner’s and risk-adjusted costs) for CO2 transport, injection and monitoring is likely to (1) vary between $5/t and 14/t injected for cases involving short transport distances to storage formations with good characteristics and (2) o to be almost $70/t injected for cases involving the transport of small volumes of CO2 over long distances to storage formations with poorer characteristics.
