Between 1914 and the late 1960s, the Champion Fibre Company published an internal newsletter, called The Log, to share news about the Canton mill, the community, and its employees. After 1940, news from the entire “Champion Family,” which included mills in Hamilton, Ohio; Houston, Texas and Sandersville, Georgia, was featured in each issue.

But, men who are suppo ed to be endowed with superior intellect, judg­ment and power to reason, are crippled and killed by the • hundred every day. There is a man in this community who is crippled both mentally and physically~ yet, he has walked the streets of Canton for perhaps twenty-five years crossed the streets thousands of times amid congested traffiic yet, he has never suffered an injury.
