Abstract

8 x 10 in. color photographic print of the Fourth Estate Stables horse racing team at Gulfstream Park horse race track in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Pictured in the photographs are the owners of the second and third place winners of the race, Painted Shield and Count Prospector, repectively, Baltimore, Maryland businessman and millionaire Harry Meyerhoff and his wife Teresa (misspelled on the image as Tersa) and their oldest son, Tom. Also pictured are trainer Jack J. Weipert and Donald Alan “Don” Brumfield, an American jockey from Kentucky. During his thirty-five-year career, Brumfield won 4,573 races in 33,222 rides and was inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 1996. Fourth Estate Stables was owned by John S. Knight and his friend and partner Marshall Field who purchased and breed horses and raced them at numerous races around the country.
