Abstract

This paper describes the outline of the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) analysis workshop on the NEXST-1 (National EXperimental Supersonic Transport-1) flight test, which was held on October 13, 2006. The NEXST-1 flight test was conducted to validate JAXA's CFD-based aerodynamic design concepts on a future supersonic transport aircraft. The comparison of the flight test data and CFD analysis results validated the design concepts qualitatively, but some quantitative differences were also found. To understand the true effects of the design concepts, those differences should be investigated in detail. As one of the best ways for such investigation, present CFD analysis workshop was planned and the validation of JAXA's CFD results was selected as a main theme. In this paper, first of all, several discussion points to be investigated were summarized. Then, analysis subjects are also described. Four parties finally participated in this workshop and compared their original CFD results with the flight test data to investigate the discussion points.
JAXA Special Publication
宇宙航空研究開発機構特別資料
