Synthesis and crystal structure of an imidochromium(V) complex with a thioether macrocyclic ligand

Reaction of [Cr(NBut)Cl-3(dme)] (dme = 1,2-dimethoxyethane) with 1,4,7-trithiacyclononane ([9]aneS(3)) followed by treatment with Ag(CF3SO3) leads to the isolation of [Cr((NBu)-Bu-t)([9]aneS(3))Cl-2(CF3SO3), which has been characterized by X-ray crystallography. The Cr-N, average Cr-S, and average Cr-Cl distances are 1.640(4), 2.431, and 2.273 Angstrom, respectively; the Cr-N-C angle being 173.2(4)degrees. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
