Abstract

This paper deals with the development of new type of Laser-Two-Focus (L2F) velocimeter which can measure flight time of particle in multi-angle directions simultaneously using a pair of four-channel Si-avalanche photodiode (APD) arrays. This system will release the complexity in measurement of flow direction. The time-of-light was evaluated by counting in software. This system is also miniaturized, using by laser diode and Si-APD instead of the combination of gas laser and photomultipliers. Measurements by the present L2F system reveals the high performance in high speed flow, which was confirmed by the experiements in an air jet flow.
