Abstract

The H(alpha), H(beta), and H(gamma) lines of the Balmer series of atomic hydrogen and the G singlet Sigma (g)(+) to B singlet Sigma (u)(+) molecular hydrogen system were produced by 40-kev electron beam excitation of molecular hydrogen at room temperature. The collisional de-excitation cross section of the above-mentioned excited electronic states in collision with H2 X singlet Sigma (g)(+) was measured.<br />Prepared in cooperation with ARO, Inc., Tullahoma, Tenn.
