Abstract

The operating specifications (modulation percentages, tolerances, bandwidth, etc.) of the precision multilobe VOR (PVOR(M)) are established. The criteria for selection of monitor field-detector positions and monitor tolerances are explained, and the flight test/computer program used to establish them is described. A simplified broad-band PVOR(M)/Doppler-VOR feed system to replace the feasibility model PVOR(M) feed system was developed during this program. It achieves isolation of the Doppler and PVOR(M) signals by means of high internal SWR's and lossy terminations rather than the frequency-sensitive coaxial hybrids of the original model.
