Abstract

The synthesis of various halogenated ethane derivatives was performed by the pyrolysis of CF2Br-CFC1Br and other similar compounds. The reactions were carried out in a platinum-lined tube at temperatures ranging from 350 to 600 C alone and in the presence of nitric oxide or bromine. Various products were isolated and identified. A mechanism is postulated for the reaction. (Author)<br />Reprint from Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 37:7, pp. 946-950, Jul 64. (Copies supplied by DDC)
