Abstract
- Special military orders for Captain R. Greene, Jr. Greene was empowered to inspect the Conscript officers in Western Texas.<br />Head Quarters Bureau of Conscription Dept Marshall Texas Nov 22nd/64 Special Orders} No 200} VII Capt R. Greene Jr. A. [F?.] Genl of Bureau of Conscription will proceed without delay to Western Texas on inspection duty, He will thoroughly and fully inspect the conduct of Conscript officers and all matters relating to conscripts and conscription in that portion of the State and make his reports weekly through the Commandant of the State to this office Capt. Greene is fully empowered to make such changes in the officers of Conscription in Western Texas as the exigencies of the service may demand and will submit his action in this respect to the Commandant for his approval VIII Capt Greene will cause the Enrolling officers to send to Camp of Instruction all persons whether conscripts or soldiers who have been detailed by any authority whatever & who are not regularly & faithfully engaged in performing the duties for which they were detailed so that they may be assigned if conscripts on such to their commands of soldiers, He will also send to Camp of Instruction all detailed persons who have violated the terms of their details and will report his action in these particulars with the testimony on which he [?] to this office to the end that the details may be revoked IX Maj. J. C. Thomas General Enrolling [end of page one] officer for the Western District of Texas is hereby relieved from duty and will turn over to Capt. Greene all the books papers records, funds & property belonging to his office who will deliver them to the Commandant of the State X Col D B Martin Commandant Dist of Texas will send Mr. Stowe his Q M agent in company with Capt.
