文久 新鐫 八町堀細見繪圖 (Detailed Map of Hatchobori)

Maps dated from 1851 to 1862.
"A rare surviving portable map comprised of 28 separate maps made for the use of daimyo, or feudal lords, when they visited Tokyo. It was miniaturized and printed on thin paper so that it could be carried in the Kagu, the vehicles in which they were transported. This would appear to be of the greatest rarity, probably due to the small edition and extreme fragility of the paper. It is not listed in the 2010 catalog of maps of Tokyo and does not appear to be listed on OCLC." (Ursus Books, 2024) See our 15059.000 for the same maps on thicker paper and colored.
