Carte Physique Et Politique de L'Asie ... 1822

This is a boxed set of six maps: Europe(1821/26), Asia (1822), Africa(1822), North America(1821/26), South America(1821/26), and Oceania(1822). The title is on the box. The maps are beautifully drawn, mounted on linen, each dissected into 18 sections with a label on the verso of each map reading "J. Goujon Marchand de Cartes, Geographiques des Postes Royales. Rue du Bac, No. 6, a Paris..." and the name of the continent ("Europe", "Asie", etc.) in ms. Maps are folded into a greenish gold paper covered box 23x16.5x8 embossed with a decorative floral border and "Cartes Des Cinq Parties Du Monde" on the spine. They may have also appeared in an atlas, but the closest reference is the Phillips 3546, which is a similar boxed set with eight maps, all dated 1826, including these six plus a world map and a map of France.
