Abstract

Color map of Western Alpine Countries. Relief shown by hachures and spot heights. Prime meridian is Greenwich. Shows cities and towns, roads, population, etc. Includes legend and abbreviation.<br />Second and revised edition of E. Debes' Neuer Hand Atlas, published in 1899, reflects the latest available data of physical and topographical geography available. It contains 61 double page maps, table of contents and an alphabetical index at the end of atlas. The principal alterations and additions to this atlas are a new physical map of Europe, showing the elevations of the land and depths of the sea, and a map of the Mediterranean sea and the surrounding countries, on which all steamer routes, railways, and telegraph lines are laid down, with three insets illustrating meteorology and botany of the Mediterranean basin. The maps which appeared in the 1st edition in 1895, have been corrected and brought up to date, and the indexes which followed each map have been superseded by a general index at the end of the atlas. Bound in half leather, dark blue hard cover, large gold embossing decoration and title " E. Debes' Neuer handatlas".
